Caitlin MacBride is an artist living and working in New York. She received her MFA in painting at Bard College and holds a BFA from RISD. MacBride has shown recently at 315 Gallery and Soloway Gallery and had solo shows at Chapter NY , Real Fine Arts , and GRIN and appeared in group shows at Greene Naftali, Zach Feuer, Neiman Gallery, and 247365. Her work has been written about in Modern Painters, Art Forum, Dis Magazine, New York Magazine, Maake Magazine, and Vogue.com. She has done residencies at the Salzburg Summer Akademy, Lighthouse Works, and Frontispiece. MacBride’s paintings engage artifacts and everyday objects to intertwine distance, desire, and affective uses of paint. Mining the museum archive for her subjects feeds into a process of studying presentations of visual hierarchies. The work engages an overlap between object relations and the literal object, an inanimate entity owned and observed.
